Lois M. Whyte

April 30, 1929 - August 05, 2010

(nee Achterberg) – passed away at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center, Thursday, August 5, 2010. Age 81 years.

Survived by her children Janet (Robert-deceased) Park, Richard (Cheryl) Whyte both of New Lenox and Barbara (Robert) McPhail of Murray, Kentucky. Eight grandchildren David (Joanna) Park, Lisa Park, Christina (George) Alexander, Nathan McPhail, Brittany, Aislinn, Ian and Annalise Whyte. Her sister-in-law Jean Achterberg and brother-in-law Ronald Bromberek. Also several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband George “Bud” Whyte (1983), her sister Susan Bromberek (2009) and her brother George Achterberg (2005)

Lois was born April 30, 1929 in Joliet and was a life long resident. Graduate of J.TH.S. class of 1947 and Illinois State University. Lois retired from the Joliet Public School District 86 after teaching for 22 years at Eliza Kelly, F.E. Marsh and McKinnley Park Schools. She is a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, ADK Sorority and the Homemakers Association with the Will County Farm Bureau.

Funeral Information

Lying in state at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 310 N. Broadway St, Wednesday, August 11 from 9:30 A.M. until services at 10:00 A.M. Rev. Karl Hess officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd., Tuesday, from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M.
