Obituary: Cecily Leach

Cecily Leach

January 24, 1939 - July 07, 2010

Passed away at Silver Cross Hospital, Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Age 71 years.

Born on January 24, 1939 in Evanston, IL., she was raised in Park Ridge, IL. and graduated from Maine Township High School in 1956 and Michigan State University in 1960. Cecily met her husband John on a blind date in Chicago in the summer of 1964, it was love at first sight and they married seven months later.
After raising their two daughters, Cecily joined her husband in his home building business in the early 1980’s. What started as a part time job evolved in her becoming CEO of Leach Homes, and according to her husband she “ran the whole show.” After retiring a few years ago, she became more active in Joliet area organizations such as the Silver Cross Foundation, University of St. Francis Board of Trustees and Meals on Wheels. She had very much looked forward to serving as Childerguild’s 2010 President but was unable to do so because of her illness.

In addition to her husband John, she is survived by her loving daughters Susan Leach and Jane (Steven) Winger. Also survived by her sister Linda (George) Wischmeyer and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind countless dear friends and colleagues.

Cecily was a unique woman filled with warmth, generosity, intelligence, humor and grace. She will be greatly missed.
