Charles "Charlie" A. Roesel Sr.

August 24, 1942 - January 27, 2012

Of Joliet, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 27, 2012 surrounded by loving family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. Age 69 years.

He was born on Aug. 25, 1942 in Joliet, IL to Lawrence A. and Mary M. Roesel (nee Mance). He attended St. Dennis elementary school and graduated from Lockport High School in 1960.
Charles was a Circulation Dispatcher for Joliet Herald News in the early 1970’s. He later joined Commonwealth Edison (Will County &Dresden Stations) as a Storeroom Clerk and Union Steward; he was then promoted to Storeroom Manager, retiring in 1994. He co-owned The Espresso Train coffee shop at Union Train Station with his son, Michael.

Charles was a life time member of the Knights of Columbus#382. Charles enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and good friends. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, golf, bartending, and spending time with family. He spent many hours supporting his children and grandchildren at St. Joe’s baseball field, football, and school events. The family wishes to thank the Joliet Area Community Hospice Care Team for all their caring support.

Survived by his children, Kimberly (Boyd) Reese of Green Bay, WI, Charles Roesel, Jr. of Joliet, and Michael (Peggy) Roesel of Shorewood, IL; his grandchildren, Tim and Dan Roesel, Morgan and Nolan Reese, and Owen and Graham Roesel. He is further survived by his special friend, Michele Gregor of Joliet, IL, sister, Sandra (Dan) Lauer of Shorewood, IL. A niece, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles survive.

Funeral Information

Visitation will be held at the Carlson, Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road Monday, January 30 from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M.

Donations Information

In lieu of flowers memorials to Joliet Area Hospice are appreciated or American Cancer Society will be appreciated.
