Richard J. Babich

June 16, 1949 - February 21, 2010

Passed away suddenly at his lake home in Minnesota, Sunday, February 21, 2010. Age 60.
Survived by his loving wife and best friend of 38 years Linda (nee Lindblom) Babich, his children Kari (Bill) Bavirsha and Craig Babich. Loving and proud grandpa of Katie and Brandon Bavirsha. His mother Evelyn Babich; his brother Bill (Helen) Babich; two nephews Peter and Anthony Babich. Also survived by numerous close personal friends.
Preceded in death by his father William Babich, a sister Judi Anderson and Roberta Rowely, who was raised like a sister.
Born and raised in Lockport. Graduate of Lockport Township High School. Received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Special Education from Northern Illinois University. Taught at Joliet East High School and retired from Lincolnway Central High School as a teacher and Dean after 30 years.
Member of Theodore Street Lutheran Church. He was an avid fisherman and Cub fan.

Funeral Information

Lying in state at the Theodore Street Lutheran Church, 1603 N. Prairie Street, Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 9:30 AM until the time of services at 10:00 AM. with Rev. Dr. Al Creighton and Rev. Chris Berry officiating.
Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road from 2:00-8:00 PM.
