At peace, Saturday, December 17, 2011, in Naperville. Age 80. Survived by his children Nancy Oetter, Paul (Nancie) Oetter and Joseph Oetter. Three granddaughters Jennifer, Teresa and Claire Oetter; a grandson Michael Oetter. A brother Melvin (Maryann) Oetter. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by his first wife Joan (nee Aschenbrenner – 1994), his second wife Ruth (nee Ayers – 2009), his parents Frederick and Verna Oetter. Veteran of the US Air Force. Retired from United Airlines as an aircraft mechanic. Former member of St. Dennis Catholic Church in Lockport. Proud graduate of JTHS Class of 1949. Gene loved airplanes, to travel and “shoot the breeze”. Funeral InformationFuneral services will be held from the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Wednesday, December 21st at 10:15 AM to St. Dennis Catholic Church in Lockport, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM.
