Wilfred M. Engle

February 13, 1913 - August 24, 2010

passed away at Silver Cross Hospital, Monday, August 23, 2010. Age 97 years.

Survived by two nieces Jeanne (Tom) Gray of Joliet and Kathy (Ron) Richards of Wisconsin.

Preceded in death by his brother Wayne S. Engle (2006) and his nephew William W. Engle (2010)

Wilfred was born in Joliet, February 13, 1913. He graduated from Joliet Township High School Class of 1932 and attended Joliet Junior College.
He was employed at American Can Company in Rockdale for 25 years, was a striker on a tug boat on the DesPlains and Illinois Rivers, finally retiring as a Machinist from Ceco Steel Mill in Lemont in 1976. Veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army stationed in the South Pacific island of New Caledonia for 32 months. He is also a veteran of the Korean War serving in Inchon for 16 months.
Member of the Joliet Throttle Twisters Motorcycle Club for many years.

Donations Information

Private inurnment will be held at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
