Of Morris, formerly of Plainfield, passed away at his residence, Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Age 91 years.
Survived by his loving wife of 22 years Bonnie J. Davy (nee Kuntz), his daughter Janet (Stephen) Eggenberger of Somers, IA., Three step-sons Charles A. (Ruth) Hammerstein of Indiana, Robert W. Hammerstein of Morris and Michael P. (Susan) Hammerstein of Channahon. Two step-daughters Janet L. (Phillip) Harvey of Minooka and Cathy J. (Allan) Davis of Texas. 15 grandchildren Joshua, Russell and David Eggenberger, Charles, Adrienne, Casey, Nicky, Robert, Michael Jr. and Cory Hammerstein, Rhonda, Robert and Tammy Harvey, Allan and Kristin Davis. Numerous great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his first wife Norma I. Davy (1989), his parents Ernest and Amanda Davy, a son Duane A. Davy (2007), a granddaughter Elise Hammerstein and sister Esther Brosmer.
Chuck was born in Braceville, IL. on December 8, 1921. Veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army. Chuck retired in 1981 as an engineer with 40 years of service with Illinois Bell. Life member of the AT&T Pioneers. Member of Minooka United Methodist Church. Former member of the Plainfield Historical Society for many years. Member of Plainfield American Legion Marne Post #13.
Lying in state at Minooka United Methodist Church, 205 Church St., Minooka, Tuesday, October 22 from 10:30 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Mary Zajac officiating. Interment Braceville-Gardner Cemetery. Memorials to Minooka United Methodist Church will be appreciated. Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd., Monday, October 21 from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M.
