Passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer, Thursday, July 26, 2012. Survived by her loving husband of 46 years Anthony Mejia; two loving daughters Cynthia (Gary) Reader and Rachael (Adolfo) Arias Jr., loving grandmother of Ofelia (Juan) Santana, Gary Reader Jr., Adolfo Anthony, Olivia and Emilio Arias; a great-granddaughter Mia Santana. Three brothers and two sisters Lupe Hernandez, Zeke (Lorene) Salazar, Anna (Leo) Tibbitts, John (Antonia) Salazar and Nacho (Maria) Salazar. Numerous devoted and caring nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Ignacio and Ofelia (nee Hernandez) Salazar; two brothers and a sister Abel Salazar, Maria Rivera and Gilbert Salazar. Retired from Joliet Township High School Central Campus. Attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. Gloria enjoyed bowling and cards. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, on Monday, July 30, 2012, at 9:30 AM to St. Joseph Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at 10:00 AM. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation Sunday from 3-7 PM.
