Passed away at the age of 87 years on January 22, 2006 at Sunny Hill Skilled Rehabilitation Center, after suffering from the effects of Alzheimer's disease.\r\nMr. Gimpel is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Ruth G. (nee Bartelt). Beloved father of six children; three sons, Robert (Paulette), Christopher (Shirley) and Thomas (Marcia) Gimpel and three daughters, Mary (Philip) Krall, Joan (Robert) Todorovich and Susan (Thomas) Cecola. Adored grandfather and great - grandfather of twelve grandchildren; Jennifer, Julie, Jodi, Sam, and David Gimpel, Christine (Rich) Blaesing, Eric Krall, Ryan and Rachel Todorovich, Benjamin, Cameron and Olivia Cecola and great-grandchildren Austin and Elizabeth Blaesing. He is also survived by a sister Anne Dunn and two sisters-in-law Fran and Marge Gimpel. \r\n Preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Gimpel, and two brothers Joseph and John Gimpel.\r\nHe was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School, and a Veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army.
