Ione Deese, age 79, passed away on May 31, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. Ione leaves two daughters; Reynee Deese of Roswell, NM and Marla (Douglas) LaRue of San Diego, CA; 3 grandchildren: Monica Valadez, Briana (Brent) Patterson and Danielle LaRue; and 2 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, Harold Steinbach and her beloved mother Pearl (Fuller) Sowman. Ione was born in Joliet, February 17, 1938 and graduated from Plainfield High School. She spent her working years in Morris, IL, Roswell, NM and the Joliet area. A life-long learner and voracious reader, Ione's happiest times were those she spent with her family and friends and those she spent in her garden. She also had great fun in her last few years shopping for treasures with her friend and helper, Alice. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday June 17, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Carlson Holmquist Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Joliet. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
