Survived by two daughters Mary Thraen of New Lenox,IL. And Colleen (David ) Fogle of Highlands, NC. Two grandchildren Amy and Tim Fogle. Several nieces and great nephews.\r\nPreceded in death by two sisters Rita (James) Carl and Virginia Calahan. A brothers James (Helen Rice) Calahan.\r\nBorn in Joliet and was a lifelong Joliet-New Lenox resident. Graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1939. Retired from the Department of Army after 28 years of service. Bob also retired from OXO & ITW Welding in New Lenox after 30 years. Veteran of W.W. II serving as a Sergant First Class with the U. S. Army during the European Theater, Bob was captured in France in 1944 by the German S.S. and held as a P.O.W. until released by the Russian Army. Served during the Korean War as a weapons instructor in Panama. Member of V.F.W. Stone City Post #2199, D.A.V. Harwood Post #5 and the Independent Order of Foresters #1103.
