Of Shorewood, passed away after a long battle with heart disease at home on Monday, June 30, 2008. Age 79.\r\nSurvived by his four children Cathy (Randy) Overton, Linda (Jeffery) Reed, Steven Skocy and Joseph (Deena) Skocy; nine grandchildren Brian (Amanda) Overton, Jon Overton, Jeffery (April) Reed, Jackie (Vincent) Beshoar, Kristy Skocy, Melanie Skocy, Christian Soland, Jaklyn Soland and Carmen Skocy, eight great-grandchildren Kyle, Allison and Macie Overton, Brandon and Matthew Reed, Alana and Blaine Beshoar and Spencer Irons. Two brothers Richard and James Skocy both of Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.\r\n Preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Donna Jean (nee Williamson) Skocy, his parents Anton and Juliette Skocy, a sister Juliette Homan and a brother George Skocy.\r\n Veteran of the US Army. Retired in 1991 from Seneca Petroleum in Lemont after 38 years of service, where he also served as a union representative. Last remaining founding member of the Troy Fire Department, past member of the Lions Club and Troy Sportsmens Club. An avid fisherman, hunter, and all around outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening and was very proud of his tomatoes. Avid Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears fan.
