Age 69, passed away peacefully at the Joliet Hospice Home after a short illness.
Lydia was the devoted and beloved wife of David Dominguez for nearly 50 years. She was the proud mother of Ricardo (Wendy) of Shorewood, David Jr. (Diana) of Joliet, Lorena (Roberto) Gonzalez of Elgin and Sonia (Jaime) Hernandez of Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico. She was grandmother to ten grandchildren: Alyssa Powers and Jordan Dominguez, Daniel and Madeline Dominguez, Dylan and Nathan Gonzalez and Nicolas, Ana Isabel, Karina and Jaime Jr. Hernandez.
The eldest child of Weto and Lupe Gutierrez, Lydia was born in San Francisco del Rincon, Guanajato, Mexico. Her mother survives along with her siblings Raul of Joliet, Ricardo (Jennifer) of Chicago, Ralph (Eileen) of Joliet and Anna (Paul) Sereiko of Wellsely, MA. She was a much-loved Tia and Madrina to many nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
A woman of great faith, grace and compassion, Lydia lived every day with kindness and generosity often mentoring others by example. Always optimistic, she saw the best qualities in everyone. Very proud of her Mexican heritage, she was the completely devoted matriarch of her family, friends, and adopted families. She always gave of herself to those she loved in the form of her excellent cooking and thoughtful acts of kindness.
It is our hope that all who were lucky enough to know and love Lydia will honor her memory by passing on her legacy of kindness.
