Marcia DeYoung (nee Thompson) – Passed away at Alden of Shorewood under hospice care, Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Age 79 years.
Survived by her husband of 60 years Robert W. DeYoung, a son Dr. Barry R. (Mindy) DeYoung and a daughter Karen Lynn (Douglas) Crawford. Four grandchildren Nicole and Lauren DeYoung, Elizabeth and Scott Crawford. Two sisters-in-law Marilyn Thompson and Lois VanderPol.
Preceded in death by her parents James and Marcella Thompson, her brother James E. Thompson.
Marcia was born in New Castle, IN. on July 26, 1935. She graduated from Chicago Vocational High School and married her husband on August 5, 1955. Marcia was one of the original operators for J.U.L.I.E in Illinois. Former legal secretary with the McKeown Law Office and the Dunn and Leinenweber Law Office. She retired in 1996 as the administrative assistant to The Honorable Harry D. Leinenweber. Member of First Presbyterian Church. Marcia was an avid Chicago sports fan, she enjoyed watching the Cubs, Bulls and most of all the Blackhawks. Her family would like to thank all of Marcia's physicians and Alden of Shorewood Nursing Staff and Aids for their loving care.
Memorial services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd., Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Dale Hammond officiating. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720 will be appreciated. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 6 from 10:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00 A.M.
