Obituary

Robert W. Bushby "Bob" Age 91, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born in Joliet on February 24, 1927 to the late Merritt L. and Esther G. (nee Gallop) Bushby. He was a proud US Air Force veteran during W.W. II. He was a self-employed designer and builder of experimental aircraft. He designed his own version of the Mustang I and Mustang II after the P-51 Mustang which is widely regarded as the finest all-around piston-engined fighter of World War II to be produced in significant numbers. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Preceded in death by his parents Merritt and Esther Bushby; two brothers, Merritt and John and one sister Gwendolyn. Survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Sharon (nee Blake) Bushby; three children, Wesley (Christi) Bushby, Paula Bushby and Sandra Bushby; Two step-children, John (Jackie) Blake and Kim (Stephen) Seth; Four grandchildren; one brother, Harvey Bushby and by numerous nieces and nephews. In accordance with Bob's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. All friends and relatives are asked to meet at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home 2320 Black Road in Joliet on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 10:00 am. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home and proceed to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery for inurnment service and military honors at 11:00 am under the auspices of the US Air Force and the National Cemetery Honor Guard.
