Passed away peacefully at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, Friday, August 21, 2009. Age 86 years. \r\n\r\nSurvived by his wife of 61 years Frieda A. Vallera (nee Sarcletti); two sons David E. (Sandi) Vallera and Jim J. (JoAnn) Vallera; a daughter Jeanne (John) Keach. Nine grandchildren Christine (Donnie) Simmons, Jimmy (Stephanie), Mark (Jacque), Michael (Mari), Josh (Lainie), Matthew (Heather) Vallera, Lindsey, Brent and Brittany Pendry. 16 great-grandchildren. A sister Lucy (Jack) McDonald. Also numerous nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nPreceded in death by his parents Cesidio and Nunziata Vallera, two brothers Albert (Dorothy) and Tony (Nancy) Vallera.\r\n\r\nVal retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company in 1981. Veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. in the Asiatic Theatre. Member of the Stone City Post V.F.W. #2199 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #300. Val loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he also enjoyed gardening, was an avid Cubs fan and will always be remembered as laughing through out his life.\r\n\r\nVal's family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Michael Waszak, Dr. Jason Suh, Anna and the staff at Joliet Area Community Hospice for their care and compassion.\r\n
