Obituary

Survived by his loving wife of 60 years Shirley L. Pierson (nee Eckstrom). Their four children The Honorable Susan (Peter) Sonderby of Chicago, Sharon (David) Cavanaugh of Channahon, Bob (Pat) Pierson of New Lenox and Ron (Leah) Pierson of Palos Park. Eight grandchildren Kristina (Michael) O'Malley, Michael Pierson, Daniel (JoAnn) Cavanaugh, Julie (Michael) Miller, Ben Pierson, Robert Scott Pierson, John Pierson and Paige Pierson. Four great-grandchildren Konner, Jackson and Alex O'Malley and Owen Cavanaugh. \r\nPreceded in death by his parents D. Walter and Judith E. Pierson. His brother Robert A. Pierson (1944) and a sister Beverly in infancy. \r\nGeorge was the founder and operator of Norwalk Tank Co. in Joliet. Graduate of J.T.H.S. Class of 1938. Member of First Presbyterian Church in Joliet. Veteran of W.W. II serving in the Army Air Corps. within the Panama Canal Zone. The Friday morning breakfast group at Bakers Square. Member of the Joliet Kiwanis Club, Matteson Lodge #175 A.F. & A.M., Joliet Commandary # 4 Knight Templar, Medinah Temple A.A.O.N.M.S., Medinah Temple Shriner and past member of the Joliet Area Chamber of Commerce Membership Committee and the American Red Cross Disaster Committee. George traveled around the world having visited all seven continents including all Fifty States, Antarctica and the North Pole. He will be dearly missed by his family, his first passion in life.
