Went home to be with the Lord our Savior peacefully at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, Sunday, July 6, 2014. Age 96.
Survived by his loving wife and best friend of 67 years Evelyn F. (nee Urban) Clemons; his four children Jim (Tina) Clemons of West Palm Beach, FL, Rich (Anna) Clemons of Bethel, VT, Cathy (Syd) Lane of Joliet and Steve (Paula) Clemons of Westminster, MD. Nine grandchildren Kimberly Clemons, Rebecca (Nate) Harper, David (Beth) Clemons, Scott (Crystal) Clemons, Angela (Marc) Wonder, Crystal (Erik) Peterson, Matthew (Hesper) Clemons, Lara Clemons and Matthew (Kerri) Lane and a granddaughter-in-law Bridgett Lane; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Albert and Nellie Clemons, a grandson Jeremy Lane, a sister and six brothers.
Veteran of the US Army serving during WWII in the signal corps. Retired from the National Weather Service as an electronics supervisor. Member of Grace Baptist Church, Lockport, IL. Member of the American Legion Post 1080, DAV and the NARFE.
Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. with Rev. Keith Harrison officiating. Memorials to the Grace Baptist Church or the Joliet Area Community Hospice will be appreciated. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Visitation Thursday from 4:00-8:00 PM.
