Allen A.
Freitag
June 29, 1943 – January 26, 2026
Allen A. Freitag
Passed away peacefully at his residence, Monday, January 26, 2026 at the age of 82 years.
Allen is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara A. Freitag (nee Crook), their two daughters Teresa McKee and Christine Freitag. Three grandchildren Bethany McKee, Patricia (Jared Kurecki) McKee and Christian McKee. A great-grandchild Cianna McKee. He is also survived by his brother Steve (Pat) Freitag and a daughter-in-law Anita Freitag.
Preceded in death by his parents Arthur H. and Lois L. (nee Thompson) Freitag and his siblings Jeffrey C. Freitag, Scott G. Freitag and Barbara Jo Freitag.
Born on June 29, 1943, in Chicago, Allen was raised in Naperville and graduated from Naperville High School. He continued his education at Joliet Junior College and Illinois State University. Allen devoted his professional life to education, retiring as an elementary school teacher with Joliet School District 86 after many years of teaching at several area schools. He was a faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Music was a lifelong passion for Allen. An accomplished vocalist, he sang the National Anthem at Joliet Slammers Baseball Stadium. From an early age, he played the piano, accordion and guitar entirely by ear and also wrote his own musical compositions. One of Allen's greatest joys was watching his grandchildren and great-grandchild when they were toddlers and playing harmonica for them. Allen enjoyed hosting radio show reproductions from the 1940s and 1950s online, bringing the spirit of that era to life. He was also a devoted Chicago sports fan, faithfully following the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks. Allen had a love of animals especially his beloved dog Jack.
Visitation will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1910 Black Road, Saturday, January 31st from 9:00 A.M. until services at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Matt Carlson officiating.
