Andrew "Bud" W. Verchimak
Beloved father, grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully at Lightways Hospice Home on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the age of 81.
Born on April 30, 1943, in Joliet, Bud graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1962. He served as a U.S. Postal carrier in the 1960's and 70's before retiring as Chief Bailiff from the Will County Courthouse in the late1990's. A devoted member of the community, Bud was actively involved with Knudson Auctions and Lou's Sausage Wagon, and he cherished his time coaching Pony league baseball at Ingalls Park A.C. Former member of Holy Trinity Slovak Lutheran Church. Bud was a proud lifelong Chicago White Sox fan, but above all, he cherished his family.
Andrew is survived by his two children Andrew D. (Julie) Verchimak and Emily (David) Hurd, along with his two cherished grandchildren Aerron Blackmon and Rebecca Verchimak. He also leaves behind his brother Jeffrey Verchimak and sister Maryjo Mott, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Andrew is preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Betty Verchimak, Jr., his former wife and friend Linda L. Taylor (nee Sandahl), his sister Diane DeSalvo (2017) and his brother-in-law Paul Mott (January 25, 2024).
A memorial service will be held at Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., on Monday, November 4th, at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Doug Hoag officiating. Inurnment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lightways Hospice will be appreciated. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M.
