– passed away at her residence, Monday, January 10, 2011. Age 66 years.\r\n\r\nSurvived by her loving husband of 42 years Harold "Hal" J. Carlson. An aunt Helen Mirenic and an uncle William Mirenic both of Joliet. Also numerous cousins. \r\n \r\nPreceded in death by her parents John and Magaline Mirenic.\r\n \r\nCarol was born in St. Louis, MO April 16, 1944. She received her Bachelors degree from University of St. Francis in 1968 and her Masters of Music degree from the Chicago Musical College at Roosevelt University in 1980. Carol taught 2nd and 4th grade at Taft Elementary School in Joliet from 1968 until 1980. She then taught Music and was the Choral Director at Dirksen Jr. High School from 1980 until her retirement in 2003. She was a lifetime member of the Taft School PTA and Educator of the Year in 1996. She was nominated by her former students to the Who's Who Among American Teachers in 1998 and 2003. She was also active with the Joliet Historical Museum. Carol will be remembered by her students as an educator and musician who strived to make a difference in her students lives though her teachings in music.\r\nCarol and her husband Hal are members of the Cathedral of St. Raymond, she is a former member of the Cathedral of Saint Raymond's Choir \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n
