Ann M.
Dionigi
March 4, 1928 – October 20, 2023
Ann Marie Dionigi (nee Delrose), age 95, a lifelong resident of Joliet, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2023 at River Crossing Nursing Home in Joliet.
Born March 4, 1928 in Joliet, she was the daughter of John and Maria Stella (nee Colonna) Delrose.
In 1948 Ann married Emil Dionigi at St. Anthony Church in Joliet and for 72 years the two were each other's lifelong companions and friends who never missed a chance to go dancing or socialize.
Ann was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, Joliet. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will forever be remembered for her cooking. Especially her strawberry pie that would always be "mistakenly" forgotten in the fridge at family gatherings, her polenta and spaghetti sauce, perfectly made pizzelles with a hint of orange and her cheeseball that she would make every Christmas directing all the family to be on the lookout for Roka Blue "in the jar".
She leaves behind two daughters: Georgene Schumacher of Joliet and Charlene Dionigi-David (William Contos) of Channahon; six grandchildren: Michael (Danielle) Schumacher, Jr., Matthew (Juline) Schumacher, Jeffrey David Dionigi (Lisa Rochetto), Megan (Nathan) Donick, Max (Kortney) Schumacher and MaRissa David (Hugo Martinez); fourteen great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her husband; Emil Theodore Dionigi, parents; John and Maria Stella (nee Colonna), brothers; Patsy, Val,
Rudy, Rico and Geno Delrose; son-in-law Michael Schumacher, Sr., and sister-in-law Natalie (Alex) Molaschi.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all of the caregivers, nurses and doctors at Story Point Assisted Living and River Crossing Nursing Home for their excellent care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association (act.alz.org) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org) would be greatly appreciated.
