Born in Joliet, she met her sweetheart and moved out of the city onto the farm where they raised their family. Initially working many years outside of the farm to help support her family. Bernie was always a welcome site at the end of the corn row as that meant it was time for lunch or dinner. Often running to get tractor parts or fuel for the tractors during the farming season. She worked like no one else so that she could give like no one else. During all this she raised her 6 children who owe many of their values and appreciation of family to her. A member of the St. Peters Ladies Aid and the Will County Farm Bureau Women's Committee for many years. She cared deeply about all her family and friends with many at St Peter's Church and the Will County Farm Bureau. She never missed a birthday and was always there to celebrate or help in any way she could. She was a very talented cook and baker. Her baking was a wonderful gift to her family and was especially enjoyed during the Christmas season. She taught her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren how to bake many holiday favorites. Those memories and recipes will never be forgotten.
