Beverly S. Steinquist
(nee Mehrtens)
Age 68, died Saturday December 3, 2016 at Silver Cross Hospital after fighting a one year battle against the rare diseases of Atypical HUS and Polymyositis Interstitial Lung Disease.
Born in Millstadt, Illinois on September 12, 1948, she attended Illinois State University and received a Masters in Education from the University of St. Francis. She retired as a teacher with Irene King School in Romeoville after 33 years of service. She also assisted her husband in operating Uniques Antiques in Joliet. Beverly was a member of the Joliet Area Retired Teachers Assoc., a 35 year member of the Ingalls Park United Methodist Church in Joliet and a member of the Effingham Good Neighbors. She enjoyed traveling, flower gardening, swimming and kayaking.
Preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Helen Mehrtens and a brother, Robert Mehrtens.
Survived by her husband, Ronald Steinquist; her step-daughter, Jennifer Steinquist; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Terry Doyle; her brother, Ray Mehrtens and her sister, Frances Mann; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home and Crematory 2320 Black Road on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 10:30 am with Rev. Leona Tichenor officiating. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home on Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm.
