Bobby J. Morgan
Died at Silver Cross Hospital surrounded by loving family, Friday, July 10, 2026 at the age of 84 years.
Survived by his loving wife of 64 years DeElla Morgan (nee Gant). Three children Holly (Jay) Lawler, Angela (Jeffrey) Platt and Steven Morgan. Seven grandchildren James (Season) Lawler Jr., Jessica (Dylon Pelc) Lawler, Isabella Platt, Christian, Logan and Nathan Morgan and Brittany Laws. Six great-grandchildren Gianna and Gabriel Cisneros, Maven, Zayden and Ezren Lawler and Jonathan Laws. His sister-in-law Marcena Williams. Cousin Jimmy Morgan Sr, who was like a brother. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Freda Morgan, and his sister, Joe-Ann Morgan, who died in infancy.
Born on October 29, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, Bobby was raised in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He built a long and accomplished career as a tool and die maker with Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet, retiring after 41 years of dedicated service. Faith was an important part of Bobby’s life. He was an active member of First Christian, Maple Lawn, Lockport Christian and most recently Crossroads Christian Church where he faithfully served as deacon, youth sponsor, greeter and more thru the years.. His welcoming nature made others feel at home. Bobby had a lifelong interest in photography and was well known for capturing special moments of family and nature through the lens of his camera. He generously shared his time and talents as he coached and umpired baseball at Whiteford Little League and coached basketball in several church leagues. An avid bowler, Bobby spent many enjoyable years participating in leagues at Town & Country Lanes.
Memorial services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Friday, July 17, 2026 at 6:30 P.M. Memorials to Crossroads Christian Church on Essington Rd. or Silver Cross Cancer Care Unit will be appreciated. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday, from 3:00 P.M. until time of services at 6:30 P.M.
