Passed away at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, Sunday, April 22, 2007, with her son and daughter at her side, after a long and couragous battle with diabetes and cancer. Age 84 years.\r\nSurvived by her daughter Catherine (Bernie Lawrence) Bielec of Manhattan, IL. Her son Thomas (Karen ) Bielec of Minooka, IL. Two grandchildren Sarah Elizabeth and Kelly Victoria. Two special sisters-in-law Mrs. Betty Thomas of New Lenox and Mrs. Phyllis (William) Bielec Quigley of Wilmington, IL. Her two longtime friends Mrs. Betty Crawford of Big Sandy, TN. and Mrs. Rose Pietto of Joliet. A brother-in-law and several sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins. Also survived by her three legged cat Haley.\r\nPreceded in death by her husband Chester R. Bielec (2000), her parents Geza and Elizabeth Thomas, her brother Charles G. Thomas (2002).\r\nVeronica retired from the Illinois State Police Bureau of Investigations. She was very proud of her Hungarian Heritage. Former member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, St. Bernard Parish Club, Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council #4400 - Columbnettes, American Legion Post #1080 Ladies Auxillary.
