Passed away at the Provena St. Joseph Medical Center Thursday, November 27, 2008. Born December 5, 1923 at Silver Cross Hospital.\r\nPreceded in death by his wife Lorraine "Dolly" (Petersen) June; his parents, Dorothy Dibell June and Ford C. June; his brother, Charles D. June; and his sister, Virginia "Cis" (June) Tracy.\r\nSurvived by his three sons: Ford C. "Chet" (Judy) June, III, of Joliet, Peter Boyd (Janet) June of Peoria, Arizona, and David A. "Andy" (Cindy) June of Channahon; grandchildren, Kathryn Lynn June, Matthew Petersen June and Morgan Lorraine June of Peoria, Arizona; Amanda Suomela June and Hannah Lillian June of Channahon, and Eric Norman Peterson and Nathan Richard Peterson of Joliet; granddaughter-in-law, Chang Suk Weber of Joliet; great-grandchildren, Robert James Weber, III, Angelica Kathren Weber, Sarah Ann Weber of Joliet, and Alec Ryan Peterson of Channahon; great-great-granddaughter: Madison Nichole Weber; nieces, Laura Lynn (June) Maycen and Susan Marie (June) Hildebrand of Bourbonnais, IL.\r\nBim, a lifelong Joliet resident, attended Taft and Farragut grade schools and was in the class of 1942 at Joliet Township High School. While in high school he was a C.Y.O. and Golden Gloves boxing champion. During World War II, he served as a lieutenant with the 13th Army Air Corps as a B-24 pilot in the South Pacific.\r\nHe retired from the U.S. Department of Defense having worked in the procurement section at the Joliet Ordinance Ammunition Command/Army Procurement and Supply Agency. While at APSA, Bim served on a special team which spent six months in 1963 advising the government of Iran and he was one of the founders of the APSA Rod & Gun Club. Bim was an avid hunter and especially enjoyed fishing in the waters off Stuart, Florida. \r\nBim was one of the original organizers of the "Save Central" campaign in 1981 and was elected to the JTHS Board of Education in one of the largest write-in campaigns in Will County history. He later served as president of the JTHS Board. Bim had been a member of the Elks Club of Joliet and the Joliet Country Club.
