Cissy A. Egly passed away peacefully on January 11, 2023, at Ascension Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in LaCrosse, WI, on May 18, 1937, to Dorothy (nee Reiners) and George Budzinski and was adopted by Ethel M. (nee Sherman) and Arthur J. Whalen of Lockport, IL, in April 1941, after her natural mother passed away.
She was preceded in death by her natural and adoptive parents, her brother Roland (Janet) Whalen (2003), and her husband, Richard (2015).
Cissy grew up in Lockport, IL, graduating from Lockport Township High School in 1955. After graduation, she attended Silver Cross Hospital School of Nursing and Joliet Junior College. She was employed in the medical profession for thirty years, serving as a surgical technician, certified medical assistant, and office manager/business manager. She was a member of the American Association of Medical Assistants, serving as President of the Illinois Chapter 1979 - 1980. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, knitting, sewing, and quilting.
She met her late husband, Richard M Egly, on January 11, 1978, and were married from August 26, 1978 until the time of his passing. They spent many years as "snowbirds" traveling to Florida.
Cissy is survived by her children, Deanna Speicher of Joliet, and Donald A Moran (Carla) of Maricopa AZ, and her step-children Randy Egly (Jenny) of Appleton, WI, Jennifer Engelman (James) of Lexington, IL, and Sheila Egly (fiancée Scott Johnson) of Morris, IL. Grandchildren Eric Speicher (Elizabeth), Zachary Speicher, Misty Moran-Pursell (Travis), Donald B Moran, Scott Egly (Marie), Kurt Egly (Claire), Ryan Engelman, Brittany Freed (Zach), Kyle Egly, Nathaniel Egly, Nic Ferrara, and Casey Ferrara (fiancée Jillian). Great-Grandchildren Everett and Ellis Speicher, Owen Rudek, Caden Baca and Joseph Pursell, Olivia and Alexander Egly, and Harper and Cora Freed. She is also survived by her sister Ginger Kelm (the late Norm), several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and her dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Carlson Holmquist Sayles Funeral Home, Wednesday January 18th at 4:30 P.M. Visitation will be from 2:30 P.M until time of services. Inurnment will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Stone Hill Bible Church in Joliet IL or the House of Worship of your choice in Cissy's name would be appreciated.
