Obituary

Clarence A. Hlavka Age 91 years, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Joliet Area Hospice Home with his loving family by his side. Born in Chicago on April 26, 1929. Clarence was a graduate of Morton High School. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. Employed as a Photo Engraver for 38 years before retiring. He has resided in Shorewood for the past 30 years and formerly of Berwyn and Brookfield. Preceded in death by his parents, George and Lillian (nee Preih) Hlavka; a sister, Georgia Popp and brothers, Ferdinand and Carl Hlavka. Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Helen (nee Kessler) Hlavka; his children, Robert (Sally) Hlavka; Ann (Daniel) Smith and William (Lory) Hlavka; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Clarence enjoyed woodworking, gardening and most especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from 10:00 AM until time of services at 11:30 AM. In accordance with the current CDC Covid 19 guidelines, all attending the visitation and service will be required to properly wear a face mask and observe social distancing. Interment and military honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
