Passed away at his residence, Tuesday, December 6, 2022. Age 87 years.
Survived by his wife Tomasa Martinez (nee Reyes), their children Reynalda (Brigido) Martinez, Ricarda (Saul) Ochoa, Joel (Armandina) Martinez, Juanita (Jesus-deceased) Martinez-Perez, Clarita (Martin) Santiago, Raul (Norma) Martinez and Jorge (Katrina) Martinez. Nineteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. His brother Mauro Ostiguin Martinez and sister Macrina M. Martinez.
Preceded in death by his parents Victoriano and Ricarda Martinez, a son Manuelito Martinez and a son-in-law Jesus Perez.
Claro was born in Mexico, August 12, 1935. Claro was an entrepreneur at heart, starting several business ventures in Mexico and the US. In 1978 he moved from Chicago to Joliet to open his final business of Martinez Groceries. Claro was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Funeral services will be held from the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Tuesday, December 13th at 10:30 A.M. to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 205 E. Jackson St. at 11:00 A.M. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M.
