Passed away at his residence, Tuesday, July 31, 2012. Age 72 years.
Survived by his daughters Tammi (Thomas) Markham and Kim Vollmer-Lawson. Four grandchildren Daniel Dale Lawson, Chloe Joanne Markham, Molly Austen Lawson and Hayden Thomas Markham. Three sisters Mary Anne (David-decease) Lewis, Audrey (Billy-deceased) Vollmer-Burton and Vianne (Scott) Giacomo. His aunts Ruth (Bill-deceased) Hopkins and Dottie (Richard-deceased) Hopkins His sister-in-law Mary Ellen Vollmer. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Dale will be missed by his longtime companion Sherryl Rojo and her family
Preceded in death by his wife Joanne J. Vollmer (nee Martewicz) (1989), his parents Reno Albert and Anna Mae Vollmer and his brother Lawrence Vollmer.
Dale retired as a Sergeant with the Joliet Police Department after 22 years. Former Chief of Police with the Will County Forest Preserve. Member of Mattson Lodge #175 A.F. & A.M., past long time Treasurer and Custodial Supervisor of Matteson Lodge #175. Dale also worked with for the Joliet Job Corp. as head of security and Stepping Stone as head of the dietary department. He enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for his brothers at the Masonic Lodge. Member and Building Supervisor of Good Samaritan Ministries.
Memorial visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Sunday, August 5th from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. Memorials to the donor's choice in Dale's name will be appreciated. Masonic services will be held Sunday at 7:00 P.M.
