Darcel M. Allensworth
Passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at the age of 71.
She was the beloved wife of Larry D. Allensworth, Sr., with whom she shared 49 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised five children Larry D. Allensworth, Jr., Eric L. (Jim) Allensworth-Loar, Karen (Leslie) Boots, Dana (Thomas Erickson) Allensworth, and Jennifer (Ryan) Holehan. Darcel was also the proud grandmother of eight, Taylor White, Tyler Paulsen, Liam and Finn Holehan, Jared Colvin, Jakin Logdon, Lorenzo and Lorena Allensworth, as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
Born on September 16, 1953, in Germany, Darcel was the daughter of the late Frank Lee and Lorraine M. (nee Rimke) Sanders. She was also preceded in death by her sister Dawn Godfrey (1999). Darcel attended St. Francis Academy and went on to lead a life filled with love and care for her family.
Darcel retired from First Student Bus Company after more than 20 years as a dedicated driver. Prior to her career as a bus driver, she worked at the Clark Gas Stations in Joliet. In her personal life, Darcel found happiness in reading, watching movies, camping and cooking for her family during the holidays. However, her greatest joy came from caring for her grandchildren.
In accordance with Darcel's wishes, private cremation services were held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, with inurnment at Elmhurst Cemetery.
