Passed away peacefully after a lingering illness, Sunday, July 14, 2013. Age 83. Survived by his loving wife of 63 years Ouida Deweese; two daughters Elaine (Ferrell) Stowe and Gail (Jim) Jerbi. Six grandchildren Alisa Vernick, Erika Stoner, Kristin Stoner, Tara Jerbi, Marc (Rebecca) Jerbi and Brooke (fiance Bob Berdelle) Jerbi. Five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. A brother James Deweese. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death his parents, four brothers and two sisters. Retired from Homer Grade School District where he was loved by all teachers and students. A lovable person and was known as "Daddy" to everyone at Joliet Floral. A true 'handyman', if it couldn't be fixed with a hammer and duct tape it wasn't worth fixing. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. If you heard whistling you knew Darrell was just around the corner. Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park II. Visitation Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 PM.
