Passed away on June 8, 2022 with his wife and daughters at his side. He was born and raised in Joliet, IL and currently lived in Mokena. He was 80 years old.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Carol (Frink) Hennessey; daughters Cheryl (Ed) Dominski of Brookfield, WI and Karen (Ryan) Murphy of Mokena; and his adoring grandchildren Caitlin and Claire Dominski and Gavin and Molly Murphy. He is further survived by sister Kathy Ramsay, brother-in-law Frank Fagan and nephews Michael Fagan, James Fagan and Sean Ramsay. Preceded in death by his parents, David and Nora Hennessey and sister Janet Fagan.
He was a 1960 graduate of Joliet Central High School then went on to study at Joliet Junior College and Illinois State University. David worked at Romeoville High School as a teacher, coach and assistant principal for over 20 years. Prior to that he taught at Glenbrook South High School and Gridley Community High School. He also worked as a realtor for many years, was active in the Joliet Exchange Club and was a past board member of the Canals & Trails Credit Union in Lockport. He was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church in Joliet and a current member of Peace Lutheran Church in Mokena.
Memorial services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Friday, June 17th at 12:00 P.M. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17th from 10 AM until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lightways Hospice (www.lightways.org).
