Passed away at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, Sunday, November 20, 2016. Age 96 years. Survived by his loving wife of 39 years Betty J. Weir (nee Cook), two sons Bob (Rosemary) Weir and Curt (Pam) Vilt, two daughters Barb (Jeffrey) Waugh and Lisa Vilt. Eight grandchildren Chistine McMillian, Edward Anderson, Colleen Thornton, Chris Flanery, Tim Flanery, Autumn Vilt, Dustin Vilt and Alysa Vilt. Numerous great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife Reta Marie Kirby (1994) and his brother Art Weir. Dean was born in Streator, Illinois on November 2, 1920 to John and Bertha Weir. He graduated from Joliet Township High School Class of 1938. Veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. stationed at Kelly Air Force Base in SanAntonio, TX. Dean was an aircraft mechanic for Butler Aviation at Oakbrook Airport. He then became airport manager of Meigs Field in Chicago and Joliet Regional Airport. Dean also enjoyed antiques and carpentry. Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Monday, November 28th at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Bob Cook officiating. Entombment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 A.M. until time of services.
