Obituary

Age 84, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Amita Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. Diane was born May 3, 1937 to Raymond and Mabel (nee Waite) Kozian in Joliet. Diane was a 1951 graduate of Saint Patrick's Grade School and a 1955 graduate of Joliet Township High School. As a freshman at JTHS, Diane met the love of her life, Terry Kaiser, in their Homeroom class. Diane and Terry were married August 17, 1957 at First Lutheran Church in Joliet and raised three children. Diane worked as a biller for Illinois Bell, as a CNA and home health aide for several years, and in the hotel industry, most recently at the Joliet Hampton Inn. Diane was an amazing wife and mother, serving as a Cub Scout den mother, Pershing School PTA President and life member, and Dirksen Junior High and Joliet West Band parent. Diane was one of the moms who looked out for all of the kids who grew up in her Margaret Street neighborhood. Diane was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Joliet and later Saint John's Lutheran Church in Joliet. Diane was an avid Chicago Bears fan, whose game time rants could make both her family and Coach Ditka blush. Diane was also an avid "Jeopardy" watcher and took great pride in being the household champion. Diane's greatest joys, however, were being "Nana" to her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and caregiver to numerous pets over the years. Diane is survived by her husband Terry, children Lori (Leonard) Wruk, Douglas (Beth) Kaiser and Tracy Kaiser. Grandchildren Joseph Wruk, Emily (Blake) Pinto, Megan Kaiser, Brendan Kaiser, Lainey Kaiser, and Emma Hartwig. Great-grandchildren Evelyn Pinto and Benjamin Pinto. Her sister Judith (Philip) Martin and brother Lawrence Kozian, brother-in-law Richard (Karen) Kaiser. Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, very special lifelong friends and her faithful canine companion Reagan. Diane is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Mabel (nee Waite) Kozian, her in-laws Waldo and Kathryn (nee Flexer) Kaiser, her niece Virginia Kaiser and her cousin Donna (nee Anderson) Blackwell. Per Diane's wishes, cremation rights have been accorded. A memorial service for Diane will be held Saturday, November 6th at 1:00pm at Saint John's Lutheran Church, 2650 Plainfield Road. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until time of service. Facial covering will be required. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Saint John's Lutheran Church or the Will County Humane Society will be appreciated.
