Obituary

Dominic M. Dispenza - passed away peacefully at home, Friday, February 5, 2021, after a courageous 2 ½ year battle with cancer. Age 67 years. Preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Josephine (Gurka) Dispenza and his father-in-law John Zale. Survived by his loving wife Debbie (Zale) Dispenza of 38 years, his sons Nick (Nicole Holzer), Tony and Danny (Becca Bojes), his granddaughter Zola Rose Dispenza, his mother-in-law Shirley Zale, brother-in-law Bob (Geri) Zale and sister-in-law Karen (Ed) Dobbins. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Graduate of Joliet Catholic High School Class of 1971 and Bachelor Degree from College of St. Francis. Following high school graduation, Dominic proudly served in the US Navy as a quartermaster in Quantico Virginia. He retired from Veolia Environmental Services after 27 years as an Accountant. Dominic was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Blackhawks. As a previous racehorse owner, he had a passion for racehorses, and the racetrack. He loved attending and participating in his sons sporting events from grade school, high school and college, earning the name "statman" for the impeccable stats he always kept. During his retirement, Dominic enjoyed cooking at home for his family, especially Sunday dinners, spending time with his granddaughter, his three dogs Candi, Kane and Gracie and being outside in the backyard by his pool. The family would like to thank the Joliet Area Hospice and the Oncology team at DuPage Medical Group. Funeral Services will be held from Carlson Holmquist Sayles Funeral Home and Crematory, 2320 Black Road, Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 9:15 A.M. to Holy Family Catholic Church 600 Brook Forest Ave. Shorewood, IL. at 10 A.M. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-7 P.M. at the funeral home. Inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be held at a later date. All attending the visitation and funeral services will be required to properly wear a facial mask and observe social distancing.
