Donald L."Uncle Don" Cheney Sr. – passed away peacefully, with his niece Heather Cheney by his side, at Amita St. Joseph Medical Center on Friday January 1, 2021. Age 76. Survived by his children Calvin Cheney, Don Cheney, Michael Cheney, Casandra (Mark) Regan and Paulette Hoover; grandchildren Jeffrey Cheney, Ashley (Caleb) Berlanga and Andrew Cheney, great-grandchildren Kira and Erin Berlanga, his brother James (Vivian) Cheney and sister-in-law Linda Cheney. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dorthy Cheney, sister Paula Tomany and brothers Ronald, Ray and Bill Cheney. Don was a proud Army veteran serving in Viet Nam. He was a lifetime member of Ingalls Park A.C., Irving Park A.C. and Moose Lodge. He retired from Union Local 11 Cement Masons and Local 75 Laborers. Don loved to travel and loved helping anyone who needed it. He was a devoted dad, grandpa and friend. Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home 2320 Black Road, Joliet, IL. Friday January 8, 2021 from 2-4 P.M. Inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
