Formerly of Iron River, Michigan. Passed away in Joliet, Illinois on March 8, 2020. Age 95 years.
Survived by his wife Arlene E. Smith (nee Peterson), a son Gary (Sheila) Smith and daughter Diane Smith all of Joliet. Four grandchildren Devone, Katlyn, Alexander and Jay (Ashley) Smith. Two great-grandchildren Logan and Evelyn Smith.
Preceded in death by his parents Everett and Ethel Smith (nee Valentine), his brother Robert Smith (2019).
Donald was born November 4, 1924 in Romeo, Michigan. He was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Navy. Former member of First Presbyterian Church in Iron River and currently a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Joliet. Don retired from Selins Hardware Store after many years of service. Don was an avid Bow hunter, having been Michigan State Champion in Archery. His other interests include Ham Radio operator, horseshoes, snowmobiling, fishing and he was a volunteer at the Iron River Museum.
Memorial services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1015 Winthrop Ave., Joliet, on Saturday, March 14th at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Matt Robinson officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 10:30 A.M. until time of services.
