Dora R. Geary (Berta) (nee Airola) Age 102, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. Born on December 26, 1912 in Linton, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Michele and Marie (nee Vigna) Airola. She has resided in Joliet since 1926. Dora was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael D. Berta in 1960; her second husband, C. Paul Geary in 2003; her brothers, James, Peter and John Airola; her sisters, Mary Bertino, Lena Airoldi and Eda Airoldi. Loving mother of Dorine (Ray) Muenzing and Michael (Sharon) Berta; stepmother of Donna Geary; cherished grandmother of 15, great-grandmother of 33 and great-great grandmother of 4. Dora resided at Our Lady of Angels for the past four years. She was an outstanding seamstress with a unique and amazing eye for style. She made beautiful dresses, formals and wedding gowns working at Alveda's Dress Shop. Dora and her second husband C. Paul Geary owned and operated the Sports Huddle in Lockport for 15 years. She was a member of the Church of St. Anthony for over 80 years. The family would like to thank the staff of Our Lady of Angels / St. Anthony Wing A2 for their loving and kind care shown to Dora during her four years residing there. Visitation for Dora R. Berta Geary will be held at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home 1201 Wyoming Ave. Joliet on Saturday, August 1, 2015 beginning at 8:30 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Rev. James Lennon, celebrant. Interment Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Romeoville In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Lady of Angels or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
