Obituary

Passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Sunday, December 6, 2020. Age 88 years. Survived by her husband of 65 years Richard A. Ceci. Their children Lynn (Ric) Sarna, Lorri (David) Tibble, Douglas (Terri) Ceci, Elizabeth "Beth" (David) Farmer and Janet (David) Schmitt. Twelve grandchildren Robert (Erica) Bauerle, Thomas (Amy) Bauerle, Laura Bauerle, David (Michelle) Tibble, Justin (Kristen) Tibble, Amy (Kevin) Brooks, William (Alison) Ceci, Bradley (Elena) Ceci, Brian (Megan) Ceci, Breanna Ceci, Danielle (Thomas) Babineau and Dylan (Andrea) Schmitt. Twenty-six great grandchildren. Her sister Teresa Shepherd and sister-in-law Rose Downey. Preceded in death by her mother Jessie Downey-Becker and her step-fathers Orlan Downey and Raymond Becker. Her brother Daniel Downey. Dorothy was born in Joliet on November 19, 1932. Graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1950. She met and married Richard A. Ceci on April 16, 1955 while working as an elevator operator at the Joliet Building. Dorothy retired from Provena St. Joseph Medical Center as a Ward Clerk known as "Dorothy Do" after 25 years. Lifelong member of First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling on many leagues at Town & Country Lanes, member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #300, former Boy Scout Leader and lifelong Cubs Fan. Dorothy was also a mother figure to many of her children's friends. Dorothy's family would like to extend their appreciation to her CNA Mya, her nurse David, nurse Kelly and Chaplin Sarah from Kindred Hospice for their care and compassion. Private family funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Tuesday, December 15 th . Chaplin Sarah Sainsbury officiating. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
