Dorothy Jean Obert Grandmother, Mother, Sister, and Beautician, age 79. Dorothy passed away peacefully on August 2, 2021 at her Plainfield, IL home, where she resided with her partner of ten years, George Petersen. She was born in Seymour, MO. to the late Floyd and Mildred Davis, and is survived by her two siblings, Elizabeth (Richard) Figge, and John (Valerie) Davis. Dorothy was married to the late Kenneth P. Obert for over thirty-six years. They had two daughters together, Linda (Paul) Schneider, and Lisa (Obert) McDaniel. She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Sydnee McDaniel, Bailee McDaniel, Emilie Schneider, Matthew Schneider, Jacob Schneider and one great-grandson Russell Schneider. She is also survived by her nephews Timothy Figge, Christopher Figge, Ryan Davis, and niece Angela Dailing. Dorothy graduated with the class of 1961 from Joliet Central High School, later attending Beauty School. She was a practicing beautician for many years, even sharing her craft teaching classes to other aspiring beauticians as well. Some of her clients even became close family friends. She additionally worked part time for many years as part of the Walmart teams in Joliet and Romeoville, Illinois. Dorothy was a goal- driven social butterfly who loved giving back to her community. In her free-time she volunteered regularly at Presence St Joseph's Hospital. She also belonged to many social clubs including Senior Services, St. Paul Paulites, Joliet Moose Lodge, and Ladies of the Moose. She was an active senior who competed in a Joliet bowling league, often swam and (one of her favorite activities) line danced at Carillon. A private family service will be held at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Joliet, Illinois on Friday August 6, 2021 at 9:00am and immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am for family and friends.
