Dorothy M. Trimmer

Beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the age of 92.

Born on June 6, 1932, in Fenville, Michigan, to Carl and Alma (nee Erickson) Carlson. She married her late husband Leolin "Lee" Trimmer on May 14, 1955 and together they shared 39 ½ years of marriage filled with joy and cherished memories.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters Joyce (Doug) Jerzycke and Judy (Randy) Hughes, and her daughter-in-law Debbie Trimmer. She leaves behind five grandchildren Michael (Brooke) Trimmer, Stacy (Mat) Pine, Steven (Amanda) Hughes, Brian Hughes, and Kristin (Mairtin) Lally. As well as eight great-grandchildren Logan, Alex, Chase, Brooklynn, Ryan, Jamieson, Savannah, and Dara. Dorothy is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Dorothy Carlson.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Lee, her son Leon, her infant daughter Patricia, and her brothers Floyd and Howard Carlson. Dorothy also was preceded by her sisters-in-law Beverly, Valorice, Irlene, Theresa, and Audrey, along with her brothers-in-law Cleon, Lemont, and Joe Trimmer.

A proud graduate of the Joliet Township High School Class of 1950, Dorothy enjoyed a fulfilling career retiring from Sears & Roebuck Co. in December 1983, after which she worked for many years at the Will County Records Department. A member of the former Ottawa Street United Methodist Church and currently Grace United Methodist Church, Dorothy was actively involved in her community through the PTA, Cub Scouts, church circle, and bowling. She loved spending time with her family and cherished her travels.

A funeral service will be held at Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., on Friday, October 25th at 10:00 A.M. Interment with follow at Elmhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to your favorite charity would be appreciated. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M.
