Passed away at home with his family by his side, Tuesday, September 10, 2013. Age 90 years. Survived by his loving wife of 72 years Charlotte M. Hedden (nee Zilch). Three children Randy (Yvonne) Hedden, Melissa (Jeff) Hultz and Caryn (Bill) Genens. Five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Long time friend Dorothy Howell of Galesburg, IL. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his son Larry Hedden (2002), his parents Earl and Marie Hedden. Veteran of W.W. II serving in the Army Air Corp. as a Aviation Cadet. Ed retired from Blockson-Olin Chemical Co. in 1984. He enjoyed gardening, reading and all types of music. Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd., Tuesday, September 17th at 10:00 A.M. Rev. Jim McGuire officiating. Memorials to the Joliet Area Community Hospice will be appreciated. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M.
