Of Shorewood, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at the age of 87.

Survived by his wife of 67 years Helen M. Woods (nee Bartels). Daughters Diane (Roger) Engstrom and Deby (Dennis) Bushby, and daughter-in-law Nancy Woods. Seven grandchildren Eric (Jenna) Engstrom, Elizabeth (Gary) Maynard, Tye (Karina) Zola, Tamra (Nick) Smelser, Stephanie Bushby, Grant (Brittany) Bushby, and Kelci Bushby. Nine great grandchildren Lucas, Emma and Michael Engstrom, Kristopher Peet, Evelyn and Caiden Zola, Kailee Smelser, Emerson Raino and Grayson Bushby. Brothers Charles (Vicki) Woods and William (Donna) Woods, and sister Patricia "Jackie" (Don) Kelly. And numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a son Edward H. Woods Jr. (June 15, 2021). Sister Ann "Sis" Helms and brother Richard Woods.

Ed was born October 26, 1935 in Lockport to Robert and Mary (nee Culyat) Woods. Graduate of Lockport Township High School Class of 1953. He spent the majority of his life in the roofing and sheet metal trade, formerly owning Elens & Maichin Roofing & Sheet Metal then retiring from Brown & Kerr Roofing. Ed raised his family in Plainfield and was a member of the St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling, creating stained glass, camping and fishing. He played Bocce Ball and was on a Wii Bowling league at Shorewood Glen.

Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Tuesday, January 31 at 11:00 A.M by family members Tye Zola and Fritz Bartels. Interment Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. Visitation will be held from Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers memorials to American Diabetes Association will be appreciated.
