Edwin F. Thomas "Uncle Red" Passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, on Sunday, May 22, 2016. Age 94. Survived by two brothers Pierre and David Thomas; his five nieces Maureen Chytracek, Pamela (Tom) Burns, Patti Jo Stevens, Mary Beth Bertotti and Diana Madison; five nephews Jeffrey Majetic, Corwin Thomas, Phillip Thomas, Craig Thomas and Brett Thomas; two great-nieces Marley Majetic and Sarah McCartney, four great-nephews Michael E. (Lisa), Marc (Cassandra), Matthew and Scott Chytracek, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and a very close family friend Joann King and their favorite server at Cemeno's in booth 100, Val Jelinek. Preceded in death by his loving wife Antoinette L. Thomas, a daughter Dr. Cheryl Lynn Thomas, his parents Brett and Nettie Thomas, brothers Leland in infancy, twin brother Eugene, Stanton, Julian, Norman, Sydney and James; and one sister Margaret. Edwin proudly served with the US Marines during WWII. Member of the Cantigny Post VFW #367 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #300. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid Cubs fan. A loving and devoted husband, dad, brother and "Uncle Red" who will be dearly missed by all. A special thank you to the caregivers Tammy Marino, Becky Coppola and Loretta Furlane for their kindness, compassion and dedication given to "Uncle Red". Per his wishes cremation rites were accorded. Memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice will be appreciated. Inurnment and Military Honors will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 11:30 am.
