Obituary

Elie J. Barrowman - passed away at Palos Community Hospital, with his family by side in spirit, Thursday, December 10, 2020. Survived by his three children Bobbi (Martin) Boban, Richard (Therese) and John (Kathy) Barrowman. Nine grandchildren Jennifer (Scott) McCure, Nikki (Brett) Harkabus, Jeff (Yessenia Buzo) Barrowman, Michele (Ray) Neahls, Monica (Dan) Kaput, Tracee, Laura, Jamie Boban and Maggie (Greg) Mitchell; great-grandchildren Jacob and Miles Vais, Alivia and Adelynn McCure, Jackson Kaput, and Harley and Isaiah Mitchell. Also survived by nephews and niece, Tom, Mike, David, and Suzie, and life-long friends, frank Bahor and Donny Brazeal. Preceded in death by his wife, of 56 years, Mary Ann (Hrpcha) Barrowman, his brothers James, Robert, Thomas, and George Barrowman, nephew, Timothy Barrowman and life-long friend Jerry Brazeal. Elie was born January 25, 1935 in Joliet and attended Joliet Township High School. Most of his career was spent with the Rock Island railroad. He loved all animals especially his dog, Maggie. Elie enjoyed discovering historical findings of Joliet, loved baseball on the radio, and was gifted on baseball stats. Elie had a very strong work ethic and was proud to say that he passed that ethic down to his children and grandchildren. All attending the visitation at the funeral home will be required to observe the current Covid-19 guidelines by wearing masks and observe social distancing. Visitation will be at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, on Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 3-7PM. He will be interred at Woodlawn Memorial Park. A celebration of Elie's life will be scheduled for a later date.
