She is also survived by her brother Manuel Cavazos, Jr., her sister Rachel Sanders and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her former husband Alcario Nino (2014), their daughter Suzanne Flowers (2021), brother Frank G. Cavazos (2022) and her son-in-law Mike Barbic (2016).

Elisa was born January 20, 1941 in McAllen, Texas. Her and her family moved to Joliet in 1954. Elisa was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was centered around family and the people she loved most. Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Elisa was proud of her family’s heritage and deep roots in the upholstery and bedding business, a tradition begun by her late parents Manuel and Santos Cavazos. Through dedication, skill and determination, Elisa and her siblings helped carry that family legacy forward. What began as a family upholstery business grew over the years into successful ventures connected with mattress manufacturing, bedding and design, including Cavazos Upholstery, Royal Comfort, Pattern Designers and My Bed.
