Elizabeth W. Jones (nee Wadsworth) – Passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 6, 2024 at Willow Falls. Age 93.
Preceded in death by her first husband Dr. John Hummel, her second husband Daniel Jones, her parents Dr. Harold and Julia Wadsworth and brothers Brenton and Stanley (Mary) Wadsworth.
Survived by her daughters Amy (Dave) Douglas, Paula (Keith) Conroy and Julie (Jeff) Leslie; grandchildren Erin (Daniel) Dryzmalla, Steven (Stephanie) Douglas, Patrick Douglas, Sarah Larson Sanders and great-grandchildren Morgan and Jaxson Douglas and Ava Dryzmalla. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Betty graduated from William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri with a degree in Equestrian Studies, where her passion for horses grew. Betty was a member of Holly Club for many years. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, she was one of the creators of Helping Hands, she was an Elder and a Deacon along with many other capacities at the church. She enjoyed being a transporter for St. Joes hospital and volunteered at local grade schools in the grandma program. Betty was a longtime board member at the Y.M.C.A and coached swimming there for many years. Betty was an avid competitive swimmer, she was instrumental in starting the Dr. Pepper swim meets. She enjoyed being a timer for swim meets, but coaching her girls swimming at Oakwood was her greatest joy. She was a huge Cubs and Chicago Bulls fan. Betty was a very strong, determined and optimistic person, who always had a smile on her face. The family would like to thank Autumn and Nurse Carmen at Willow Falls for their love and care provided to their mother.
Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Monday, June 10th at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Craig Herr officiating. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials to Lightways Hospice will be appreciated. Visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 A.M. until time of services.
