Elna J. Anderson

Beloved sister and devoted community member, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2024, at Sunny Hill Nursing Home, at the age of 96.

Elna is survived by her sister, Karen K. (Thomas) Sedlacek of Anchorage, AK, along with several cherished nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents David E. and Esther D. (nee Melin) Anderson, as well as her sisters Leona R. Anderson, Jane D. Lindberg, Leota C. Anderson, Carol P. Holmstrom and Sandra L. Anderson.

Born on June 26, 1928, in Joliet, Elna was a proud graduate of Joliet Township High School, Class of 1946. She began her career as a secretary with Adam Groth Construction Company before dedicating herself to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she served as church secretary for 35 years until her retirement in 1998. Her commitment to the church and its community reflected her deep faith and passion for helping others.

Lying in state at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 412 E. Benton Street, Saturday, October 5th from 9:00 AM until services at 10:00 AM. Rev. Rodney A. Juell officiating. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Lightways Hospice will be appreciated. Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Friday from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M.
